Community Outreach Grants
Apply for a Community Outreach Grant
The North Thurston Education Association believes that a strong connection between home, community, and school increases student success. To promote that connection, we offer Outreach Grants. All of the following criteria must be adhered to for consideration of a grant.
NTEA Community Outreach Grants are intended:
¨ To help members and the association strengthen connections with parents,
¨ To support a broad range of efforts to increase public awareness of the positive role schools and school employees play in local communities,
¨ And to make NTEA a visible part of the education process.
In order for a project to be funded by a grant it must satisfy the following criteria:
¨ Involve a significant number of parents and community members
¨ Establish a partnership among NTEA, the school(s), and the community
¨ Include a plan to visibly recognize NTEA as the funding source of the activity. Part of the plan must include approval of the building principal/supervisor for the grant to be awarded by an NTEA representative at a building staff meeting.
A grant cannot supplant funding for programs that otherwise have been funded or should be funded by the district (i.e. curriculum or classroom materials), or pay salaries, other than for qualified students who provide childcare during the activity ($10 per hour per student maximum).
Send your completed application via in district mail to Conni Van Hoose at the NTEA office, via FAX to 360-352-7361, or via regular mail to 1619 State Street, Olympia, WA 98506. The NTEA Executive Board will meet to review applications as they are submitted.
All grants expire June 30th; receipts must be received by that date for reimbursement. Monies may not be carried forward to the next school year.
